Women are treated with dignity and respect at our Center for Integrative Medicine.  Gone are the wasted hours spent in waiting rooms, the uninviting exam rooms, and rushed talks with doctors who dismiss women's concerns.

 

The health needs of women change throughout the different stages of their lives; from childbearing years through menopause and beyond.  Often, women do not receive the specialized health care they require and are offered treatments that serve to only eliminate symptoms.

 

At the Center, we believe that women need treatment that improves physical, emotional, and spiritual health.  Nutrition, herbal remedies, and other cost-effective alternative therapies are incorporated into custom care plans that promote breast and GYN health, control hormonal fluctuations, and prevent osteoporosis--as well as other illnesses that often affect women.

 

Through the use of the Center's various treatment modalities, we can help you deal with various topics often of interest to women: how to deal with family problems; aging gracefully and healthfully; sleep and fatigue problems; skin problems; depression; menopause; and other life changes.

 

Our goal of total health and well being is reached by treating each woman as an individual--an individual whose unique life situation is taken into consideration when caring for her health.

Being overweight is a known modifiable risk factor for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, osteoarthritis, sleep apnoea, breathing problems and some forms of cancer. Two-thirds of adults living in the United States are overweight, with billions of dollars spent annually on weight loss products and treatment programs.

 

Typical diet programs treat you from the "outside in," by telling you how many pounds to lose after weighing you. The Weight Management and Mind-Body Skills programs at The Center for Integrative Medicine treat you from the "inside out," by evaluating how the interaction of your mind and body affects your ability to manage your weight and your health.

 

Integrating the best of traditional and complementary programs and therapies, Inner Harmony provides the effective tools to make permanent lifestyle changes, a path

to true and lasting weight loss.

 

Rather than restrictive diets, forbidden food lists and concentration on pounds lost, our program focuses on managing weight by evaluating and treating the physical and emotional reasons for weight gain.

 

Inner Harmony's comprehensive program is physician supervised, offering both individual and group counselling sessions. Nutritional counselling is an integral part of the program, with acupuncture offered as a tool to aid in appetite suppression. Participants may select from yoga, Tai Chi Chih, ecstatic dance or resistance training as free incentives of our Weight Management program.

Pain is the body's way of telling you something is wrong, whether it's physical, emotional or mental.

 

Inner Harmony's professionals help patients to discover the root cause of the pain using a combination of non-invasive, drug-free therapies specifically designed for each individual. These services may include acupuncture, behavioral and wellness counseling, chiropractic, massage therapy, meditation or other stress reduction techniques, nutritional and homeopathic support, Reiki and yoga.

Our Mind-Body Skills Program offers people living with illness and stress an opportunity to transform the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of their lives.  Regardless of the adversity that may be experienced, it is possible to take positive steps toward improving every aspect of daily life.

 

This program will empower the participant to draw from their body's natural ability to heal itself.  You will learn and practice mind-body techniques proven effective in prevention of illness, which will enhance

self-awareness, health, and well-being.

Inner Harmony's Cardiovascular Care Program helps patients develop and maintain cardiovascular health through a variety of a la carte or structured therapies designed to enhance the body's healing capabilities.
