Mindfulness Meditation Gaining Medical Acceptance

Meditation can't ease pain, improve concentration and immune function, lower blood pressure, curb anxiety and insomnia, and possibly even help depression--at least that's what one of the shrinking number of skeptics of meditation might say.

In 2007, 1 out of 11 Americans meditated at some point during the year, creating benefits even they themselves may never have imagined.  A colossal shift in acceptance of meditation has allowed for research in the area.  Neuroscientists report that studies are beginning to prove the benefits of meditation through the use of CT scans.  Now, the benefits of meditation are not only qualitatively measured through patient interviews; we are beginning to build quantitative clinical data that argues strongly for meditation.
